I am a truck driver in the state of Pennsylvania. For years, I was unhappy with my job. I searched and searched for something with a better work/life balance, but I struggled to find anything worthwhile.

Then one day, out of the clear blue, I was presented with an opportunity to apply for a job that was extremely difficult to get into. Friends of friends were willing to go out of their way to put in a good word on my behalf, significantly improving my chances of being hired. Sure enough, within a month, I was offered the job.

Unfortunately, I lacked one — and only one — qualification needed to be hired as a driver. Instead, I was hired as a laborer. The pay was much less, but it was still the best move I could make for myself and my family. I told my wife I would try it for one year, and if, by the one-year mark, I hadn't upgraded to a driver position, I would quit.

Two months shy of my one-year anniversary, I began taking medication to help me lose weight. What I didn’t know was that the medication I had been prescribed was a banned substance for CDL holders in the state of Pennsylvania.

Do you want to know when I learned that?

One month before the one-year mark — and just two days before my scheduled drug test. Why was I being drug tested? Because I had been offered the upgrade to a driver position.

That's right. Everything had gone according to plan — until this one mistake, this one pill, this one oversight, threatened to rob me and my family of the future we had hoped and prayed for.

Heartbroken and expecting the worst, I began researching the drug, how long it stays in your system, and what the state says about it. The results were crushing. I was going to test positive for amphetamines. That would trigger an inquiry into my prescription, and that would cost me the position.

Still, I returned the medication to my doctor and took the test, hoping somehow I could explain the situation — maybe talk my way into a second chance.

To my surprise, about a week later, I got a phone call from the head of Human Resources. He said, “Sir, your results came back clean. We are ready to proceed with the hiring process.”

Explain to me how I tested clean.

Was it a miracle? I’m not sure. I would honestly hate to tell someone that story and have them wait around for some kind of divine intervention in their own life — only to feel abandoned if it doesn’t come. What if it never comes? Would the absence of a miracle be the thing that turns someone away from God?

I would hope not.

Because anyone who truly loves God knows that every breath you take is a miracle. I’m not telling you to sit around waiting for God to do something supernatural. In fact, God never promises that He will. It is still your responsibility to pursue the things you desire in life. You must take initiative.

However, if your endeavor is God-honoring, and you pursue it in prayer, humility, and faith, then you might be surprised by the means God uses to bring His purpose to fruition.

God is omniscient. We are not. If something is meant to be, you can’t stop it — and neither can the forces of nature.

I pray that the miraculous stories shared on this platform exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and stir praise from the lips of all who read them. I believe God had a purpose for allowing me to take this wonderful job opportunity — and chemistry wasn’t going to get in His way.

Take that for what it is.

Never forget to repent. Repentance is a crucial part of the Christian life. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). And always remember: you are made stronger through trials and tribulations (Romans 5:3–5), and your hope lies in Jesus Christ.

The Christian road is never promised to be an easy one. But don't keep your eyes closed while God is doing amazing things right in front of you.

Wake up, Christian — and worship!
